Jungle Too
Project No. 41: Before & After Photos

This Designer Rebuilt Spec Home in East Oakland Park was designed for Restore 818 Homes creating a tranquil escape right in the heart of Fort Lauderdale city-life.

BEFORE
The 100% all-original late-1950’s Florida ranch was in dire need of help all-around. Sitting on a large overgrown double-lot the project earned its’ name ‘Jungle Too.’ Originally built as a tiny 2-bedroom 2-bath home, the all-original structure was dark, dated and non-functional as a modern home. The kitchen was closed off from the living and dining areas as was typical of architecture at the time it was built.

The heavily over-grown lot had plenty of mature specimen trees that formed the basis for creating this South Florida retreat.
AFTER

The home was gutted to the block with two new additions: one a lateral wing that would house the new master suite, and the second an expansion and enclosure for the open carport into a large two-car garage. Leveraging Janie’s interior architecture and interior design skills the entire structure was redesigned, rebuilt and brought up to current building codes. New window and patio door openings flood the home with light and views of the landscape and designer pool.

More than a dozen dumpsters of concrete and aspahlt were trucked out of the property with nearly 20-truck loads of soil trucked back in to sculpt the gorgeous new landscape. The interior was designed to honor and welcome the feel of nature into the living spaces.
