BURBANK BUNGALOW
Project No. 09: Before & After Photos

This Designer Rebuilt Spec Home was an early investment project completed by Janie and JP in Los Angeles. The Burbank Bungalow and a dozen other projects in Los Angeles were Janie’s first work as an independent Interior Designer. Designs were completed for Restore 818 Inc. Real Estate Development, the sister company to Studio 818.

BEFORE
The original structure of this California bungalow home was built in 1928. As you’ll see from the before photos, the home was shambles and virtually a tear-down. JP & Janie purchased this tiny 2-bedroom, 1-bath home in the heart of one of Burbank’s most desirable neighborhoods to restore it to better than its’ original glory.

A little cool side-note on this project was that location was near the studio for the Tonight Show and JP & Janie would often see Jay Leno pass by on the way to work on one of the many bikes or cars in his collection.
AFTER

The house was gutted to the studs with the home being rebuilt top-to-bottom. To maximize the use and feel of the small square footage the floor plan was opened to create a loft feel. The design focused on creating a casual, inviting So Cal bungalow vibe that reflected the Burbank lifestyle. By combining butcher block counters and ebony wood floors with Fisher-Paykel appliances and Emtek hardware the home gave a feeling of comfortable elegance.
